- 울타리는 다용도로 막아 놓은 시설을 말한다. 풀이나 나무 등을 엮어서 경계를 지어 막는 물건을 부르는 말로 영어로는 펜스(fence)라고 한다. 방이나 집 등 시설물이 보이지 않게 완전히 둘러막는 것은 특별히 구별해서 벽(壁)이나 담장이라고 부른다.
